Sahuarita Lake Triathlon, a good tuneup for Kansas 70.3

This morning was the 9th annual Sahuarita Lake Triathlon, held in Sahuarita AZ, just south of Tucson. A great local race with all the fun, usual local suspects racing! 1k swim, 25k bike, 5k run - then you can go enjoy your Memorial Day bbq!
I focused on my swim, hoping that all my training to become a better swimmer would start to become apparent in my racing. This is one of the only places to swim in 'open water' around Tucson, so I always like to do this race. I was quite pleased with my swim; coming out of the water ahead of many of the ladies who consistently have been ahead of me for so many years! I thank the training and the blueseventy Helix wetsuit!
The bike leg has a nice, steady 2-3 mile climb halfway through and I felt very solid all the way up the hill. I came off the bike in the lead and ran for the finish for a 1st OA place, only after making a key move on a devastated Erik Jacobsen in the first mile of the run.

It was just what I needed to give me a boost and remind me that my legs feel good for Kansas 70.3 this Sunday. I'm also looking forward to sporting my new 2XU kit and Scott shoes!

I'm driving to Kansas, so I'll be sure to post any of the interesting stories that happen along the way - there's always a story on roadtrips - and I'm known for some really interesting ones...
